Each summer we like to gather our tribe together with a good old surf contest! The goal is to raise awareness and funding for the non-profit sector of Surf Happens. This year marks the 3rd annual event called the Summer Surfari where 50 groms and their supportive families joined together on Santa Claus Lane for a fun and low-pressure surf contest. With huge prize bags and trophies of course! The $25 entry fee got you a Surf Happens Hat and several shots at making the finals. A huge raffle was stocked by our epic sponsorsChannel Islands Surfboards Santa Barbara StoreHurleyJ7 SurfboardsA-Frame Surf ShopSurf N’ Wears The Beach House ,Arbor Skateboards ,Freestyle U.S.A., and Scosche which helped raise more funds for the Surf Happens Foundation. Launching Grom Surf League First Event!

The Surf Happens Foundation mission is to enrich lives through ocean awareness and the sport of surfing. Our current programs offer surf school scholarships, free surf days for at-risk youth, and a yearly surf camp for kids with cancer. Through the generous funds of The Brittingham Family Foundation, Mark Shulhof, and our community we will be launching the Grom Surf League-a free competitive surfing league for 14 and under on the central coast. The first event is coming up in December: The Lakey Peterson Leadbetter Classic, folled by the Coffin Brothers Summer Surf Out at Jalama July 2015. Stay tuned for more as the league unfolds it’s magic!
