PRIVATE COACHING
One on one coaching has been our forte since Surf Happens’ inception in 2000 and is a great way to improve your skills and take your surfing to the next level. Program Specifics & Rates
We will be running ASP and Elite Programs Monday-Friday with limited spots available. Programs have a minimum one-day per week participation policy, unless an alternate plan is pre-arranged. A signed contract must be submitted before participation.
About Surf Happens ASP
Since 2000, The Surf Happens After School Program (ASP) has focused on teaching beginning to advanced surfers the art of surfing in a fun and rewarding environment. Group sizes are limited to no more than 4 surfers per vehicle in accordance with our code of ethics. The instructor to student ratio in ASP groups is 1:4. Additional instructors may be contracted to work with specific groups for additional fees.
ASP programs focus on teaching goal setting, ocean knowledge, and advanced surfing techniques, and also include pick up from school, and drop off at home location. All programs include monthly meetings.
Program Options & Specifics
Open Surfing
Open Surfing is designed for all ages and abilities. This program includes pick up from school and drop off at home.
Micro Elite
The Micro Elite program is designed for beginner surfers. We focus on developing ocean knowledge and a solid foundation is the sport of surfing. This program includes pick up from school and drop off at home. Board and wetsuit may be provided upon request.
Mermaids
The Mermaid program focuses on beginning to intermediate, up and coming female surfers. This program includes pick up from school and drop off at home. Board and wetsuit may be provided upon request. Mermaids may also participate in co-ed programs.
About Surf Happens Elite Teams
Surf Happens Elite Teams are designed to take your surfing to the next level. Our expert coaches specialize in the development of young athletes and mentorship within the sport of surfing. We start by establishing students individual goals, and skill level, and begin isolating strengths and places for improvement.
The Elite Program was developed by athletes for athletes and may be applied as Independent Studies Physical Education. Elite Team instructors are experts within the field of surfing. During each session we focus upon technique, goal setting, competition strategy, repertoire, along with building confidence and mental strength. Our coaches include Chris Keet, Tarik Khashoggi, Demi Boelsterli, and Kilian Garland.
Program Specifics
Jr. Elite & Elite
The Surf Happens Elite Surf Team meets several days weekly with a mandatory one day per week commitment. Location is determined on a session-by-session basis as dictated by the tides, wind, and surf. This assessment provides us with the ability to venture to the best location within 30 minutes of Santa Barbara. Participating team families will be notified of location by noon on each day of practice. Parents will provide rides to and from a set up location where we will pick them up and drop them off. In the case that a student lives outside of the area, parents will be in charge of getting them to and from meeting location.
After School Program Rates
Prices based on year/trimester commitment
After School Program One-day per week: 2hr + driving Beginning Coaching, Semester video/photo premier & report cards, 1 to 4 instructor ratio $85 per session / $340 per month
After School Program-Two days per week: $75 per session / $600 per month
Sibling Discount two students or more: $75.00 each
Elite Team: 2hr Intermediate-Advanced Coaching, Session IVF w/coaching notes (within 48hr), 2 to 4 instructor ratio $110 per session / $440 per month
Pre-Pay Invoicing : We invoice on the 1st of the month and appreciate payment within 2 weeks. Pre-Pay Full Trimester & Receive one free session
Absence Policy
Excused absences (24hr notice) can make up that day within a two-week period. No refunds. 3 absences may be made up each quarter. Unexcused absences will not receive credit, or refund. In the case that make up days are not fulfilled, credit may be applied to other services. Note: only with 24 hours + notice.
